About Us

Welcome HHOWM!

We are non-profit in Oxford Hills, established by a group of locals. We feel lucky to have what we do, and want to spread this feeling to our neighbors.

Our goal is to help you in whatever way we’re able. Whether that’s by filling your closet, refurnishing your home after a fire, providing your kids with toys, or putting you in contact with someone who can help you better… we’re here to help, with no judgment.

A note from Sarah (Co-founder & Treasurer):

The most valuable advice I’ve been given was “No matter how happy you may be, no matter how lucky you may feel, there will be dark times. But no matter how dark, there will always be light if you look hard enough.”

At HHOWM, we want to be your light in the dark.

Founders of HHOWM

Ellen Burnham, President

A resident of Oxford Hills since 1977, Ellen loves hiking, fishing, and kayaking. Since 2000, she has run her own cleaning business. More recently, she’s been a caregiver for those at the end of their lives. Now, she’s enjoying her “retirement” by starting a non-profit. Her favorite job has been that of “parent” – both to a human daughter and two Boston Terriers. She loves helping others, and wants to find a way to put a smile on people’s faces.

Marie Stevens, Vice President

A long-time resident of Norway, Marie has been a retail buyer, owned a cleaning business, and worked in private duty homecare. She loves summer, music, and reading, and dedicates time to working with a small group to bring joy to folks around the holidays. Married for 49 years, Marie is mother to two, and is a grandma. She hopes to see HHOWM grow into a larger resource for the community, and looks forward to being able to help more people as we grow.

Holly Allen, Secretary

A resident of Paris, Holly worked in Special Education in the Oxford Hills School District. She loves reading, gardening, browsing antique stores, and heading to the ocean in the off-season. She’s a mother to two sons, a grandma, and has three very spoiled cats. Her hope for HHOWM is to make sure people feel comfortable reaching out to us for anything they may need.

Sarah Burnham, Treasurer

An (almost) lifelong Mainer, Sarah is sadly not retired and currently works remotely for Boston University. She stays busy by taking part in town committees, knitting, helping her spouse wrangle four cats and a dog, and biting off more than she can chew in the world of establishing a new non-profit. Her goal is to make HHOWM as accepting, welcoming, and non-judgmental as possible.
